“Extreme Summer lasts for 60 days. It is the shortest season in the year. A year has different seasons... Asfiry, we say, the season is from 1 Suhail to 100 days. 101 days we enter winter. Winter is another 100 days. After 10 days past winter, we enter summer... Algeeth starts from the set of AlThuraya star. It is known to be called AlThuraya. A star known as Suhail separates the seasons…in other words, starts a new season. AlThuraya will set now, days and it will set. It doesn’t technically set, but it comes out during daylight which is not visible. When AlThuraya comes out after 40 days, they bring the dates...People used to be very happy when the dates would come. In those time my kids [addressing the interviewers] , they did not have all those fruits, and they did not have the things that are present today. When they would find the dates, whatever condition it was in, they would eat it and say “Alhamdulillah”. Today you won’t eat it saying “it fell on the sand”. I remember old people at my time... they would take the dates from the sand, and dust it off to eat. Why? He has plenty of dates and he can throw this one, but because this is from Allah's grace."
